In Loving Memory of Keira

AKC DNA #V841763 | OFA26G, OFEL26
📅 Passed: June 8, 2023

On June 8, 2023, we unexpectedly lost our beautiful girl, Keira, to Dilated Cardiomyopathy (DCM). Her passing was sudden and heartbreaking. An autopsy confirmed the cause, though we’ve been told this condition is extremely rare in the Mudi breed. We are committed to watching closely for any future signs of this in the breed community and continuing to learn from her legacy.

Keira was our very first Mudi, and the one who ignited our deep love for the breed. Imported from Hungary at five months old, she arrived just as life threw us a curveball—I suffered a major leg fracture, and Keira and I spent the next three months housebound together. That time forged an unbreakable bond. She was my comfort, my shadow, and my healer.

Due to those early limitations, Keira missed critical socialization milestones, but she showed us that Mudis are resilient, loyal, and endlessly forgiving. She loved with her whole heart and asked only to be close to us. Through her, we learned that to a Mudi, family is everything—they don’t just want to be near you, they need to be.

Keira had strong herding instincts and was always eager to work. She was stunning inside and out, with a heart as big as her drive. Though she is gone far too soon, Keira’s legacy lives on in our hearts and in every Mudi we raise in her honor
