Co-Owned Dogs

The Benefits of Co-Own Dogs

At Menagerie Mudis, we occasionally place select puppies and young adults in co-ownership (co-own) or guardian homes. This is a mutually beneficial arrangement that allows us to preserve the best dogs for our breeding program while ensuring they receive the love, attention, and individualized care of a family home.

Why Co-Ownership?

More Attention & Socialization:
Dogs in co-own homes are beloved family members first. They receive one-on-one time, training, and socialization that helps them grow into confident, well-rounded dogs.

Genetic Diversity & Program Flexibility:
By having more dogs in trusted homes, we can expand and strengthen our breeding program responsibly without maintaining a large kennel. This helps preserve important lines, diversify genetics, and improve the breed.

Stronger Relationships:
We stay closely connected with our co-own families, offering mentorship, training support, and a deeper involvement in the world of purebred dogs. It’s a partnership, not just a placement.

Opportunities for Co-Owners:
Depending on the dog and agreement, co-own families may enjoy opportunities in conformation showing, sports, or even raising a litter under our guidance—experiences that can be fun, rewarding, and educational.

A Lifetime Home for the Dog:
Once the dog’s breeding or show career is complete, full ownership is typically transferred. They remain with their family for life.
